Resumen: During the 19th century, Chile began to develop small industrial clusters that gave birth to new entrepreneurships, like beer. From the establishment of the first breweries, the common thought was that Concepción was, in comparison to another Chilean provinces, a latecomer this process. However, imported beer and beer manufactured in the area were older than that was established by various historical surveys. In this case, we analyze qualitatively the history of beer in Concepción province during its first development stage, that is, between 1833 and 1874, by the historical synthesis and the critic-heuristic method. This investigations studies a period that began beer production on large scale with the foundation of the Keller brewery.
