Resumen:
The automotive industry plays a crucial role in economic and social development, contributing significantly to GDP and ensuring mobility, productivity, and quality of life. Vehicle maintenance and repair services have become essential for the sustainability and efficiency of the automotive fleet. However, in many urban areas, the availability of automotive repair shops does not always align with user needs in terms of accessibility and service quality. El Bosque, a municipality in the Metropolitan Region of Chile, has experienced steady population growth and an increasing number of vehicles. Despite this trend, the availability of high-quality automotive repair services remains limited, leading to unmet demand. This scenario presents a significant opportunity for establishing an automotive repair shop that meets local needs while adding value to the community through specialized and sustainable services. This prefeasibility study aims to evaluate the technical and economic viability of opening an automotive repair shop in El Bosque. The research analyzes key technical aspects, such as location, workshop design, and required resources, alongside financial considerations, including initial investment, operational costs, revenue projections, and key financial indicators. The comprehensive analysis will determine the project's feasibility based on its profitability and capacity to satisfy local market demand. The study employs a methodology that includes market analysis, conceptual workshop design, financial evaluation using indicators such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and a sensitivity analysis to identify critical success factors. Additionally, regulatory and environmental aspects related to the establishment of this type of business are considered to ensure long-term sustainability. This research aims not only to provide a practical solution to the identified issue but also to contribute to the economic development of El Bosque by generating employment, promoting the formalization of the automotive repair sector, and strengthening local service offerings. The findings lay the groundwork for implementing an innovative project that benefits both the community and potential investors in the sector.
