Escenario de la educación sexual en Latinoamérica y el impacto en el embarazo adolescente : revisión bibliográfica (2012-2022)

Abstract

Introducción: El embarazo adolescente en América Latina y el Caribe posee una de las más altas tasas estimadas de fecundidad en adolescentes, lo cual se ha relacionado estrechamente con la educación sexual recibida en los adolescentes. Objetivo: Analizar el escenario de la educación sexual en algunos países de Latinoamérica y su impacto en el embarazo adolescente mediante una revisión bibliográfica entre los años 2012-2022. Metodología: Revisión bibliográfica, en la que se utilizaron las bases de datos: WOS Redalyc y Scopus , empleando los términos DeCs: Educación sexual , Embarazo , Adolescente , Sexo inseguro , Embarazo en la adolescencia , Impacto , Latinoamérica y su respectiva traducción al inglés, junto con el operador booleano AND . Resultados: Se escogieron un total de 15 artículos y 45 documentos oficiales. Se analizaron en 3 categorías las cuales fueron: programas respecto a la educación sexual en Latinoamérica , donde se recopiló información respecto a la existencia de planes y programas específicos de cada país, educación sexual y embarazo adolescente en Latinoamérica donde se evidencia correlación entre educación sexual y tasas de embarazo adolescente y finalmente, la tercera categoría, percepción de los adolescentes respecto a la educación sexual en Latinoamérica . Conclusiones: En Latinoamérica, la Educación Sexual Integral (ESI) es fundamental para prevenir embarazos y promover una sexualidad saludable. A pesar de que se disponen marcos legales y programas para afrontar esta problemática, aún falta mecanismos que garanticen su correcta aplicación y la evaluación de su cumplimiento. A su vez los adolescentes perciben este tipo de educación como precaria y un referente no confiable para ellos.

Introduction: The adolescent pregnancy in Latin America and Caribbean region has one of the highest rate of teenage fertility, which has been related with the sex education acquired by teenagers and how this impacts the rates. Objectives: To analyze the situation of sex education in some Latin American and Caribbean countries and its impact on teenage pregnancy by a bibliographic review during the period from 2012 to 2022. Methodology: Bibliographic review, where the following database were used; WOS, Redalyc and Scopus, by using the terms DeCs educacion sexual , embarazo , adolescente , sexo inseguro , embarazo en la adolescencia impacto , Latinoamerica and their English translation, with Boolean Operator AND . Results: A total of 15 articles and 45 official documents were selected according to the established criteria. They were divided into 3 categories: Programs about sex education in Latin America and Caribbean the information, was gathered regarding the existence of specific plans and programs for each country, sex education and early pregnancy in Latin America and teenager s where an evaluation is evident between sexual education and teenage pregnancy rates and finally and the third category perception of sex education in Latin America. Conclusion: In Latin America and Caribbean region, the comprehensive sex education is essential for preventing pregnancy and promoting healthy sexuality. In spite of the existence of legal frameworks and governmental programs to face the problems, there is still a lack of mechanisms to ensure its effective implementation and its assessing compliance. In turn, adolescents perceive this type of education as precarious and an unreliable reference for them.
