Uso de partículas de titanio en el tratamiento quirúrgico regenerativo de la periimplantitis : revisión evaluativa de la literatura

Abstract

La presente revisión bibliográfica surge a partir de la interrogante respecto de las propiedades del tratamiento con partículas o gránulos de titanio para la recuperación ósea en los casos de periimplantitis, por sobre otro tipo de materiales, teniendo como objetivo determinar, evaluando la literatura disponible, cuál es la eficacia de las partículas de titanio en el tratamiento quirúrgico regenerativo de la periimplantitis, con base en estudios clínicos, revisiones de la literatura y revisiones sistemáticas. La metodología utilizada corresponde a la de la revisión bibliográfica evaluativa, en tanto se enfoca en responder a una pregunta precisa respecto a la efectividad de un tipo de tratamiento, utilizando las bases de datos Web of Science, Pubmed y EBSCO, a través de la búsqueda de los términos titanium granules o titanium particles y periimplantitis. En términos de resultados, después del descarte de artículos por medio de los filtros utilizados, se evaluaron 4 de ellos, concluyéndose que no existe evidencia suficiente para sostener la mayor efectividad de los gránulos de titanio por sobre otros materiales, aunque tampoco existe evidencia suficiente en contra de ello.

The present bibliographic review arises from the question regarding the properties of treatment with titanium particles or granules for bone recovery in cases of periimplantitis, over other types of materials, aiming to determine, by evaluating the available literature, the efficacy of titanium particles in the regenerative surgical treatment of peri-implantitis, based on clinical studies, literature reviews and systematic reviews. The methodology used corresponds to that of the evaluative literature review, in that it focuses on answering a precise question regarding the effectiveness of a type of treatment, using the databases Web of Science, Pubmed and EBSCO, through the search for the terms titanium granules or titanium particles and peri-implantitis. In terms of results, after discarding articles by means of the filters used, 4 of them were evaluated, concluding that there is not enough evidence to 5 support the greater effectiveness of titanium granules over other materials, although there is not enough evidence against it either.
